I have heard some complain that their dog pees all over their plants in their backyard, ruining their landscaping. Or worse, the dog doesn’t get all the way out the door before lifting his leg and drenches the inside and the outside–yuck! To fix such potty issues remember that your dog can’t read your mind and that all dogs loves routine.  So I would pick a spot in your yard where you want your dog to relieve himself and then leash him up and take him there every time he goes out for a month (or less if you feel he is starting to catch on). By showing him (via taking him) where you want him to go pee-pee and poo-poo, you are setting him up for success versus getting angry when he doesn’t go  in the correct spot. Dogs need baby steps to learn big routine changes, but if you are willing to take it slow and be patient, your backyard will bloom and your clean-up routine will be much easier! Lead your dog!
